Instagram reels are the newest IG feature that allows you to record 15-second clips that are set to music.
Sound familiar? It was only a matter of time before IG brought a short-form video tool like this to the table. I don’t blame them! This punchy, audio-driven content is so easily digestible by the millions of you’s and me’s doing their daily scrolls, waiting to be shown your reel piece de résistance. Next minute, you’ve got yourself a whole new fan base. My advice…claim that 15 seconds of fame and jump on the reel bandwagon ASAP because the Instagram algorithm will love you!

What are Instagram Reels?
Instagram reels are a fresh and engaging tool to create sweeter video content. You can record and edit clips or use clips from your camera roll to make up a 15s video set to music. This music library is huge, so creative possibilities are endless. You can share these to your stories, explore feed or find them living in the new Instagram Reels tab on your profile.
How do I use Instagram Reels?
There’s no doubt that the best way to get the most out of this feature is to get your creative hands dirty and explore it yourself. But to get you started, I’ve jotted down this basic step by step guide to Instagram reels.
✨ Open the Instagram Stories camera and select Reels
✨ Select your audio *side note: not everyone has access to audio*
✨ Begin creating by either filming segments live or uploading clips from your camera roll
✨ Once you’re happy with your masterpiece it’s time to edit. You can play with speed, AR effects, the timer, text and stickers
✨ Choose your thumbnail
Then voila, you’ve now entered into the reel world…
Should I include Instagram Reels into my business strategy?
YES! It’s another way to create personalised and authentic content, that is still curated strategically to tell a story. It’s fun, engaging and a fab way to build upon your community and grow your reach. Plus if your business targets Gen-Z and millennials this could be an absolute game-changer for your brand awareness and sales. With over 500 million users on stories daily, you’d be silly not to take advantage of Instagram Reels.
